Cells Flashcards
What are the 2 types of cells?
Animal cell and Plant cell.
What is a cell?
It is the smallest structural and functional unit of an organism which is also self-replicating.
What is the structure of an animal cell?
Ribosome, cytoplasm, nucleus, mitochondria and cell membrane.
What is the structure of a plant cell?
Ribosome, cytoplasm, nucleus, mitochondria, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplast and vacuole.
what does the nucleus do?
It controls what the cell does.
what is a cytoplasm?
It is a jelly like substance where chemical reaction happens.
What is a cell membrane and what does it do?
It is a thin skin around the cell which protects and selects anything from coming in and out.
What does a mitochondria do?
Respiration occurs here releasing energy.
What does a chloroplast do?
light energy is absorbed and changed into food here.
What does a ribosome do?
Proteins are made here.
What does a cell wall do?
It supports the cell and keeps its shape.
What does a vacuole do?
It helps maintain water balance and shape of the cell.
what does animal cell not include?
animal cell does not contain chloroplast and vacuole.
