Resistance

Question 1

Write a method to investigate how wire length affects its resistance.

Answer 1

1. Set up circuit as shown
2. Use a metre ruler to adjust the crocodile clips so they are 10cm (use a metre rule) apart
3. Close the switch and record the voltage across the wire and the current in the circuit. Use the equation R=V/I to find resistance and record this.
4. Repeat increasing the length of the wire by 10cm each time until a length of 100cm is reached
5. Close switch between readings
6. Record results in a table.
