What is the general set up?
A
Put food sample into test tube

What is the test for sugars?
A
Add Benedict’s and place in water bath.
It should turn brick red if positive

What is the test for starch?
A
Add iodine
Should turn blue/black is starch present

What is the test for lipids?
A
Add distilled water and ethanol.
Pour into another test tube with distilled water and if it is cloudy lipids are present

What is the test for protein?
A
Add biurets solution A and solution B. Shake and it should turn purple if proteins present
