Research Methods Flashcards
What is the actor-partner interdependence model (APIM) used to discover?
The effect of a partner’s traits on themselves and on their partner.
What are time series analyses?
A timeline of behaviour and interaction between partners that determines whether or not one partner’s behaviour is likely to affect their own later behaviour, or whether or not one partner’s behaviour is better predicted by the other’s.
What are the four sources of questions within the field of relationship psychology?
Personal observations, broader social problems, previous research, and theories that strive to offer explanations for relational events.
What are the two broad types of goals?
To delineate the nature of events and to establish causal connections between events.
What are cross-sectional designs?
Compares different people at different stages or ages in the developmental process.
What is the disadvantage to cross-sectional designs?
Must question whether it is the age or the culture they are brought up in that affected different outcomes.
What are longitudinal designs?
