A
-Data that’s grouped into categories that don’t have a natural order
- e.g. favourite colour

- Data grouped into categories that do have a natural order
- e.g. A level grades

- Data that tells us exactly how much bigger one number is than the other
- Cannot go below zero
- e.g. Mass

- Can go below zero
- e.g. temperature
