Research Flashcards
What are the two types of research?
Basic research- observation ( I wonder, if I do this, what will happen?)
Applied research- observation & theory; experimental (if info this, this should happen)
Mean
Add up scores, then divide by the number of scores
Median
Middle number in rank order
Mode
Most frequently occurring
What is validity?
Validity is the degree in which an instrument measures what it is proposed to measure
What is predictive validity?
It’s also referred to as criterion validity which is the accuracy with which a test predicts future performance on the related task
What is concurrent validity?
It’s considered a form of criterion related the Livity, is the degree in which a new test correlates with an established test known validity
What is construct validity?
The degree to which test scores are consistent with theoretical constructs or concepts
What is content validity?
A measure of test validity based on the systematic examination of all test items to determine whether they adequately sampled the full range of the skill been tested in the relevant to measuring what the test purports to measure
What is predictive or criterion validity?
The accuracy with which a test predicts future performance on a related task
What is concurrent validity
A firm of criterion validity, is the degree to which a new test correlates with an established test of known validity
What is construct validity?
The degree to which test scores are consistent with theoretical constructs or concepts
What is content validity?
A measure of test validity based on a systematic examination of all test items whether they adequately sample the full range of skills being tested.
What are the different types of validity measurements?
Predictive/criterion
Concurrent
Construct
Content
What are the different realities of measurement?
Test retest reliability
Alternate form reliability
Split half reliability
Inter observer/inter judge reliability
Intraobserver/intrajudge reliability
