Med Speech Flashcards

1
Q

What are obligatory errors?

A

Q

What is a straight line lip repair?

A

They cut off some tissue, raise some tissue on the other side and overlap the tissue. Not common anymore.

Q

What are the palate repairs?

A

Free-flap repair
Tissue taken from somewhere else like your arm but hair growth is a problem

Furlow Z-plasty
Tissue is removed from both the nasal side of palatial shelves and oral side—so you have this double cross over to make it as strong as you can. For both Soft and hard palate

Von Langenbeck
Most common
Pull up flaps of tissue and flap them over. Paper over the soft tissue.
Not removing tissue

Wardill-Pushback
Soft tissue closure
Cutting these slots to give more length in the tissue
Lengthening your repair which will end up lengthening the velum
Vomer Flap- used in a larger cleft

A

Lefort I, II, III

II- the whole maxilla is brought forward including the bridge of the nose

III- everything pulled forward including the eye sockets
