The Department has established Rescue Air Cushion (RAC) Task Forces, strategically located throughout the county.
This provides a timely response to each Regional Operations Bureau.

Initial Action: “Jumper”
- Request Law Enforcement and set up Unified Command
- Assign Safety Officer
- Identify area to deploy the Rescue Air Cushion
- Suicidal Jumper consult with law enforcement
- Establish LCES
- Ensure personnel working above ground level are wearing appropriate harnesses
Set up the Rescue Air Cushion in a selected “pre deployment area”. Do Not set up (inflate) the Rescue Air Cushion in the target area!! Why not?
To a possible “Jumper” above, the Air Rescue Cushion may appear to be fully inflated, when its not.
