What is a lobule of of the testis?
Each testis has 250 lobules separated by incomplete CT septa. Each lobule has 1-4 seminiferous tubules
Functions of testosterone
- development and maintencen of spermatogensis
- secondary sex features
- dev of gential ducts and glands
Structure of the urethra?
- prostatic
- membranous
- spongy – mostly stratified columnar, and stratified squamous at the end.
- mucus secreting glands of Littre are found all along the spongy part
What is spermatogensis?
The production of spermatozoa
What is the outermost layer of the ovary?
Germinal epithelium - cuboidal epithelium
What triggers the LH surge?
Increasing Estrogen levels. triggers completion of meiosis I and ovulation
What happens to the follicle immediately after ovulation?
Forms Corpus Luteum
- granulosa lutein
- theca lutein
- residual LH will stimulate these to produce progesteron
What is the main stimulus for the secretory phase of the endometrium?
Progesterone from the CL leads to the secretory phase
