All traded in precious metals, silks, spices, religions, etc.

Indian Ocean, Silk Road, Trans-Saharan

What were the effects of the Renaissance?
Rebirth of Greek and Roman Philosophy; caused by Black Death, trade/interaction, printing press; humanism spread; new inventions/knowledge
Why did Portugal and Spain want to establish new trade routes?
Quicker access to Asian markets; avoid going through Ottoman Empire who stopped trade
What caused the Black Death to spread? Effect of the plague on the church.
Fleas on rats, trade/interaction/wars spread it faster; many people lost faith in church that was unshakable in Middle Ages
What caused banking in Europe to spread in the 1300’s?
Increased trade and interaction between different cultures led to a need to have money storage/someone to change different kinds of currency
Impact of the printing press?
Spread of knowledge of ideas and increase in education of non-nobility
Who was Zheng He?
Chinese Explorer/conqueror; explored much of the Indian Ocean Basin and beyond
How did the conquistadors take over the New World?
Guns, Germs, Steel, better technology + natives had no immunity to disease

Supplies/products/people; where exchanged; positives and negatives of the Columbian exchange on the Americas and Europe
