Bible Apostolate
- From Latin word “communicare”, meaning to share.
Social Communication
- Encouraging and ad gentes mission spirit that is willing to explore new situation and to seek out partners for dialogue

- Inspired written account of God’s revelation
- Comes from the Greek word “ta’biblia/ biblia” which is the plural form for biblion, in turn comes from the word “biblios”, meaning papyrus, a reed that Egyptians used to prepare writing materials.

The Bible is revealed
- From the traditional view of revelation, Christians say that the Bible was inspired and therefore communicated by the Spirit of God. The Bible is not to be interpreted literally.

The Book of Revelation
- Pattern of events in which God reveals his presence
- Tells the story of God’s plan to save human from sin. The history of that saving plan was told through the Scriptures: Primeval History, Patriarchs Matriarchs, Egypt & Exodus, Settling the Promised Land, Kingdoms of Judah & Israel, Exile & Return, Life of Jesus Christ, Early Christian Church

o Figurative accounts about how God created everything. Events that happened before recorded history.

o Tells how God begins to form a special relationship with a chosen race of people.

o He made a special promise, called Covenant, with a man named Abraham and his wife Sarah.

o A patriarch is a male leader, responsible for surviving. A matriarch is his wife, responsible for decision-making.

o Patriarchs are the original ancestors of Jewish faith, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and his 12 sons were chosen to lean His Chosen People.

o Jacob’s descendants are the Israelites. At the beginning of the book, Israelites are slaveries in Egypt. God heard their cries and calls Moses to lead people out of slavery. But the Pharaoh has a hard heart.

o Yahweh proved his might over Pharaoh by sending plagues on the Egyptians. The Israelites escaped and the journey to the Holy Land is called the Exodus.

o On the way to Promised Land, they stopped at Mt. Sinai. God extends the Covenant to all the Israelites and gave Moses the Law, summarized in the 10 Commandments. Israelites need to obey as a sign of their commitment to the Covenant.

o During the Exodus, Israelites lose faith and had to wander in the desert for 40 years except for their children, Joshua, and Caleb.

o Moses dies before the Israelites enter the Promised Land. Moses is His right hand man, and Joshua called to lead his people into the land, which is inhabited by other people.

o Israelites must fight for the land. If they trust God, they will succeed. If they do not, they fail. They gain control of the land and Joshua divided it into 12 tribes.

o The monarchy. Israelites want to have a king. God has Samuel, the last of the judges to anoint Saul as the first king of Israel. Samuel also warns the people of the dangers of kings and empires.

o Samuel was killed in the battle and David follows as the second king. He is a mighty warrior and united all the tribes. After David’s death, his son Solomon built a temple at Jerusalem. David and Solomon was guilty of sins after their positive accomplishments.

o After Solomon’s death, there was a disagreement and the kingdom splits in two. Israel as the northern kingdom, and Judah as the southern kingdom. Both kingdoms follow foreign gods, so God calls prophets to obey the Covenant with God.

o Amos, Hosea, and Isaiah told the people to stop worshipping idols and practice justice. The sayings were collected and become part of the Jewish Scriptures.

o Kings like Hezekiah and Josiah aimed for a religious reform. Books from Deuteronomy to Second Kings of Jewish Scriptures are collected and edited during their reigns.
