Buddhism
a world religion or philosophy based on the teaching of the Buddha and holding that a state of enlightenment can be attained by suppressing worldly desire
Animism
Belief that objects, such as plants and stones, or natural events, like thunderstorms and earthquakes, have a discrete spirit and conscious life
Cargo cult pilgrimage
a big religious movement by a large amount of people to Melanesia, it’s important because Cargo Cults believe western goods have been traded to them by ancestral spirits
Christianity
This religion is a belief in one God and in Jesus Christ as the messiah who freed followers from Roman rule and fulfilled the prophesy of the scriptures.
Confucianism
A philosophy based on the ideas of Confucius that focuses on morality, family order, social harmony, and government
Ethnic religion
religion that is particular to one, culturally distinct, group of people
Exclave
a part of a country that is seperated from the rest of the country and surrounded by foreign territory.
Enclave
territory enclosed within an alien land
Fundamentalism
Literal interpretation and strict adherence to basic principles of a religion (or a religious branch, denomination, or sect).

Hadj
The pilgrimage to Mecca for Islam followers. It’s the fifth of the five pillars.
Hinduism
Created in India, approximately one billion followers. Unlike other religions, heaven isn’t always the ultumate goal in life. Third largest in world behind Christianity and Islam. Talk about Karma (what goes around comes around).
Interfaith boundaries
The boundaries between the world’s major faiths, such as Christianity, Muslim, and Buddhism. This isn’t the same as Intrafaith boundaries which describes the boundaries within a major religion.
Islam
It means the submission to the will of god. It’s a monotheistic religion origination with the teachings of Muhammad, a key religious figure. It is the second largest religion in the world
Jainism
Religion and philosophy originating in ancient India. Stresses spiritual independence and equality throughout all life.
Judaism
It is the religion of ancient Hebrews, said to be one of the first monotheistic faiths.

The certain areas where people have commonly been buried.
Monotheism/polytheism
Monotheism is the belief in one god and polytheism is the belief of many gods.
Mormonism
A term used to describe religious, ideological, and cultural aspects of the various denominations of the Latter Day Saint movement.
Muslim pilgrimage
the muslim law a which a muslim must make at least one pilgrimage to mecca in their lifetime.
Muslim population
It is the religion of 1.3 billion people in the world
Proselytic religion
A religion where where believers attempt to convert others to their faith
Reincarnation
the idea that our soul lives multiple lives and gains experience through them.

These are the styles of architecture created by the religions.

this is the conflicts between religions. Israel-Palestine

This is where most religions are born. Most major religions have come from the Middle East near Israel, but a few have come from India too. This is important to human geography because where religions are created, civilizations are too.

A name derived from a place or geographic feature that has to do with religion
Secularism
a doctrine that rejects religion and religious considerations
Shamanism
belief that spirtits inhabit living and nonliving things, communicating with humans through priests called shamans
Sharia law
the code of law derived from the Koran and from the teachings and example of Mohammed
Shintoism
a religion based in Japan, marked by worship of nature and reverence for ancestors
Sikhism
Religion founded by Nanak that blended Islamic and Hindu Beliefs
Theocracy
the belief in government by divine guidance
Sacred space
The place where religious figures and congregations meet to perform religious ceremonies.
Sunni and Shi’ites Muslims
Two major branches of Islam; Sunnis, the largest branch, are known as the orthodox branch supporting only descendants of Muhammad, whereas Shiites support descendants of Ali as religious leaders.
