Q

How do you test reliability ?

A

Test-retest
1 First, give ppts a questionnaire complete
2 Next, give them the same questions to complete and the same participants in the same conditions after a certain time ( 3 weeks)
3 Lastly, If the results are above 80% when compared the results are therefore reliable.

Q

What are the stages of inter-rater reliability?

A

1 First Agree on behaviour categories(define them so that you both know what it is)
2Next Separately complete the observation so that you cannot copy one another.
3 lastly, compare the results by correlating them, if they are above 80% in similarity hr results are reliable.

Q

What are some ways of improving reliability?

A

1- Questionnaire-if the test retest method shows this to have low reliability, some items could be deselected or rewritten.
2- Experiment-Control the circumstances under which participants are tested to ensure that the situation is the same for all.
3-Observation-Behaviour categories need to be operationalised properly and not open to interpretation.
4-Interviews- Use the same interviewer for every interview
