Relationships between species Flashcards
Intraspecific
Competition for resources between members of the same species
Interspecific
Competition for resources between members of different species
Predator and Prey relationship
One species kills and eats the other
Herbivore and plant relationship
Organisms that eat plants. Plants under attack from herbivores cannot run, hide or physically push them away.
Symbiotic relationships
Two organisms that live together temporarily or longer
At least one of the organisms benefits from the relationship
Amensalism
One organism is destroyed, the other is unaffected
Parasitism
Interaction between organisms where one species, the parasite, lives on or in a host, without killing the host. But the host suffers negative effects.
Mutualism
Prolonged association of two different species where both gain some benefit.
