Marriage
Life-long legal and sexual commitment between two people.
Sanctity of Marriage
The belief that marriage is holy.
Cohabitation
When a couple live together in a sexual relationship without being married.
Divorce
The legal ending of a marriage.
Death does not count.
Remarriage
Marrying again after a divorce - usually to a different person.
Nuclear Family
Parents and their immediate children, living together.
Extended Family
Includes grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc
Polygamy
Marriage to more than one person at a time (usually a man with several wives).
Procreation
Having children by having sex.
Contraception
Preventing pregnancy while having sex, for example by using a condom.
Family Planning
Deciding in advance when to have children and how many to have.
Homosexual
A person attracted to the same sex as themselves.
Heterosexual
A person attracted to the opposite sex to themselves.
Same-sex marriage
Marriage between two people of the same gender.
Gender Equality
Equal rights and opportunities for men and women.
Gender Prejudice
When men hold unfair views on women, or vice versa.
Gender Discrimination
When a person or institution acts on gender prejudice to treat either men or women unfairly.
