Revelation
When God reveals knowledge about himself, e.g. the Qur’an to Muhammad.
Risalah
Prophethood - the belief that God speaks to humanity through people - prophets.
Tawhid
The belief that God is one - monotheism.
Omnipotence
All-powerful (usually in context of God).
Beneficence or Omnibenevolence
Loving or All-loving
Immanence
Idea that God is always close by us and present among us.
Transcendence
Idea that God is totally different - beyond time and space.
Day of Judgement
When each person’s deeds are assessed and the person is either sent to heaven or hell.
Predestination
Belief that God knows a person’s final judgement before they have even lived.
Sunni Islam
Follow Qur’an and Sunnah, but not the ‘rightly guided imams’ of Shi’a Islam. 90%
Shi’a Islam
Muslims who believe that the first Imams were ‘rightly guided’, just as Muhammad had been, and their example is to be followed.
Imamate
The rule of the ‘rightly guided imams’ in Shi’a Islam.
The Sunnah
The life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, who is ‘rightly guided’ and so may be followed.
Adalat
Justice, and the belief that God judges fairly.
Akhirah
The Afterlife (includes judgement, heaven and hell).
