According to FAR 43, can you perform your own maintenance?
You can do preventative maintenance such as oil changes, tire swap, etc. CANNOT do anything altering such as propeller swap, alternator replacement.

Maintenance AD notices are based off of what figures from the plane?
TAC time as it based on the engine which most ADs are related to. Hobbs time refers to time/stress on the airplane frame itself

How long is a plane’s airworthiness certificate valid for?
As long a the plane stays airworthy! Any major alterations such as new engine, adding exterior appliances, will require a new form (form 337) and signing off to become airworthy again.
