Su Zi Jiang Qi Tang (Perilla Fruit Decoction for Directing Qi Downward)

A

Directs rebellious qi downward, arrests wheezing, stops coughing, and warms and transforms phlegm-cold

LU Cold-Phlegm (excess above) with KD Yang deficiency (deficiency below): Coughing and wheezing with copious, watery, clear sputum; stifling senastion in the chest and diaphragm, dyspnea, shortness of breath, labored inhalation but smooth exhalation; possible weakness of the low back and legs, edema in the extremities, fatigue

T: white, greasy or slippery coat

P: slippery, weak

NOTE: This formula can relieve wheezing, cough, and phlegm in asthma, bronchial asthma or chronic bronchitis patients

A

Disseminates and redirects the Lung qi, arrests wheezing, clears heat, and transforms phlegm

Internal LU Phlegm Heat with external Wind-Cold causing rebellious LU qi: Coughing and wheezing with copious thick yellow sputum, labored breathing, possibly simultaneous fever and chills

T: greasy yellow coat

P: slippery and rapid

NOTE: Most commonly Ding Chuan Tang is used to treat acute manifestations of chronic conditions such as bronchial asthma
