REGRESSION ANALYSIS Flashcards
Is a statistical method that makes use of 2 or more quantitative variables so that the dependent variable/response (Y) can be explained by the independent/explanatory variable (X).
Regression Analysis
In y = a + bx, y is the \_\_\_\_\_\_\_ x is the \_\_\_\_\_\_\_ a is the \_\_\_\_\_\_\_ b is the \_\_\_\_\_\_\_
y is the dependent variable
x is the independent variable
a is the constant
b is the coefficient of X; how X affect Y [either (- )or (+)]
formula of a (the constant)
a = y - bx
formula of b (the coefficient of x)
b = n(summation of xy) - (summation of x)(summation of y) / n(summation of xsquared) - (summation of x)squared
Similar to simple linear regression except that it uses multiple predictors.
Multiple Linear Regression
It is the concept of picking variables with the exact same effect.
Multicollinearity
Y: dependent variable is also called _______ variable.
X: independent is also called _______ variable.
response variable (Y) explanatory variable (X)
