An area distinguished by a unique combination of trends or features. Man-made (grouping of similar places together)

A
- 1 or more traits in common
- Homogeneous
- Can be cultural or physical
- Must have boundaries
- Language, religion, agriculture

Functional Region
A
-Area organized to function politically, socially, or economically as 1 unit — centered around a node
Ex. Cities, urban areas, church congregations, newspapers

Perpetual/Vernacular Region
A
-Perceived to exist by its inhabitants & has widespread acceptance - often uses special regional name
Ex. Dixie, street gang turd, south, Middle East before & after
