Fiv groups of students given info about capital punishment in five different ways, four were lectures from speakers with RP, Somerset, South Welsh and Brummie accent, final group were given the written equivalent, found that:
RP and written presentation most impressive
Brummie was least impressive
RP and written most likely to change students minds

Coined term “Estuary English” describe the language of the people who lived near the Thames estuary. Contains:
Phonlogical- glottal stop, yod-coalescence, TH fronting and h-dropping
