How do you define Fuelling Safety Zone?

GOM 3.2.1
FSZ is an area AT LEAST 3m in any direction from centre point of all fuel vents, plugs, ports, fuel hydrants , fuel hoses, fuel vehicles. This distance can be bigger as required by local airport or caa regulations!

Within FSZ personnel should ensure they:

GOM 3.2.1
- Assume refuelling at any time vehicle is on stand and connected
- DO NOT SMOKE
- DO NOT let PAX through
- DO NOT use PEDs incl mobiles
- DO NOT allow unauthorised personnel (only if you have a job to do there be there)
- DO NOT leave engines running unnecessarily
- DO NOT park any equipment
- DO NOT OBSTRUCT with GSE the escape route for refuel vehicle
- Avoid using motorised GSE
- Protect fuel hoses and make sure all GSE is at least 1m away

If fuel spillage occurs:

- Stop the fuel supply (emergency shutoff valve)
- Tell SCCM /COMMANDER
- Tell fire service
- Check to stop all activity around A/C
- STOP activity within spill area to reduce the risk of ignition
- DO NOT start engines of vehicles within 6m of spillage (STOP GPU and PCA) until declared safe by Fire Chief
- Tugs to remove A/C shall not be brought closer than 15m from spillage u til declared safe by Fire Chief
- DO NOT wash spillage into drains. Alert water authority
- Raise BA safety report but also File MOR report for spillages greater than 2m in diameter.
- Seek FIRST AID, remove contaminated clothes
