What is the moro reflex?
Primitive. Sudden extension of the head causes symmetrical extension then flexion of the arms
What is the grasp reflex?
Primitive. Flexion of the fingers when an object is placed in the palm
What is the rooting reflex?
Primitive. Head turns to stimulus when touched near the mouth
What is the stepping reflex?
Primitive. Stepping movements when held vertically and dorsum of the feet touch a surface
What is the asymmetrical tonic neck reflex?
Primitive. Outstretched arm to the side to which the head is turned when lying supine
What is the labyrinthine righting reflex?
Postural. Head moves to the opposite side to which the body is tilted
What is the postural support reflex?
Postural. When held upright legs take weight and may “bounce”
What is the lateral propping reflex?
Postural. In sitting the arm extends to the side on which the child falls
What is the parachute reflex?
Postural. When suspended face down, arms extend
