Reflection & Vision Flashcards
What is a reflection?
When light bounces off a surface.
What is refraction?
The bending of light rays when it enters from one medium to another.
What is the normal?
An imaginary line drawn at a right angle to the surface of a reflective or refractive material.
What is the incident ray?
A ray of light that strikes a surface.
What is the reflection ray?
A ray of light that bounces off a surface.
What is myopia?
The eye condition of shortsightedness.
Which lens corrects myopia?
Concave lenses.
What is hyperopia?
The eye condition of longsightedness.
Which lens corrects hyperopia?
Convex lenses.
What is a cataract?
When the eye’s lens gradually become foggy and frosted over.
What is astigmatism?
When light bends unevenly because the cornea has an uneven shape.
What does the iris do?
Regulates the amount of light that enters the eye.
What does the optical nerve do?
Lets your eyes send signals to the brain.
What does the pupil do?
Allows light to enter your eyes.
What does the cornea do?
Protects the eye from infiltrates and UV rays.
What do the ciliary muscles do?
Changes the lens’ shape to help with focusing.
What do the lens do?
To bend the light entering to focus it on the retina.
What is the vitreous humour?
The jelly that gives the eyeball its shape.
What is the sclera?
The white outer part of the eye.
What does the retina do?
Converts images into electric signals to the optic nerve, which are sent to the brain.
