reflection Flashcards
Law of reflection
angle of incidence=angle of reflection
wave crossing boundary
wave crossing boundary can experience total internal reflection (TIR), means it is reflected back into material. only can happen when wave travel through dense material like glass or water towards less dense like water.
when does TIR happen
angle incidence, larger critical angle for particular boundary-each boundary has own different critical angle
specular reflection
waves reflected in single direction by smooth surface, get clear reflection
diffuse relfection
waves reflected by rough surface, raves reflected all direction, normal is different for each incident ray, so each ray has different angle of incidence. the law still works. surface looks matt, and you do not get clear reflection
