What is the simplest way to reduce pollution in all power stations?
Use less electricity
Why is this?
Because the less electricity we use the less fossil fuels have to be burnt so less pollution is created.
What are other ways to reduce pollution?
The sulfur could be taken out of gas and fuel oil. Also when coal is burnt sulfur and particulate carbon can be removed from the chimney before getting into the atmosphere
How Sulfur can be removed from fluegases?
By reacting with an alkali
What are the alkalis?
Seawater and an alkaline slurry
How do catalytic converters convert carbon monoxide and nitrogen monoxide?
Catalytic converters convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. This is an oxidation reaction. Also they convert nitrogen monoxide into harmless nitrogen and oxygen-this is a reduction reaction.
