air is a mixture of gases made from small molecules with large spaces in between them.

No they just get shuffled about but they are still there.

What does a chemical reaction involve?
A
It involves atoms changing places-the atoms you start off with (reactants) rearrange themselves to form different chemicals. The chemicals are called products
