Describe how the electrons move between sodium chloride (NaCl).

Na and Cl on its own have no charges as they are atoms, however, when they form a covalent bond they become two atoms that rely on each other to have a full outer shell. So that means that Na loses electrons to Cl while Cl gains the electron meaning Na has been oxidised while Cl has been reduced.
