Hydrogen ions and ph Flashcards
What is the difference between a dilute acid and a concentrated acid?
A dilute acid has a lower ratio of acid to the volume of solution whereas a concentrated acid has a higher ratio of acid to the volume of solution.
What is the difference between strong and weak acids?
A weak acid is partially ionised meaning not all of their molecules release H+ ions. Whereas with strong acids they are fully ionised meaning that all of their molecules release H+ ions.
What is the relationship between the ph hydrogen ion concentration and the acidity of the acid?
As shown on the titration curve as the volume of acid increases in a mixture so does the acidity meaning the PH decreases which also means that there are more H+ ions being released.
