What is recommended for preconception supplementation?
A
- Folate - 0.5mg/day (5mg if high risk) 1 month before conception until second trimester
- Iodine - 150μg/day until no longer breastfeeding

A
- Nutritional assessment and BMI optimisation
- Check oral cavity and dentition
- Smoking cessation
- Avoid alcohol and illicit drugs
- Aim for pregnancy intervals from 18-59 months
- Optimise chronic disease and avoid teratogenic medications
