What is the human resources department?
Department in business that deals with recruitment and selection.
What is needs analysis?
How an organisation decides how many and what type of worker is needed.
What is the job description?
Lists the main duties, tasks and responsibilities of a worker.
What is the personal specification?
Lists qualities, qualifications and knowledge needed for a person to do the job.
What is internal recruitment?
When a job vacancy is filled by employing someone inside the business.
Give five advantages of internal recruitment?
- Cheaper
- Quicker
- Person appointed already understands the business.
- The person is already known.
- Gives more opportunities for promotion.
What is external recruitment?
When a job vacancy is filled by employing someone outside the business.

What is a recruitment agency?
Specialist agency that carries out all tasks involved in recruitment on behalf of an organisation.

Agency that has workers readily available for hire.
What is a letter of application?
Letter written by the applicant that shows why they are suitable for the job.
What is an advantage of using an application letter?
Shows communication skills.

Shows the applicants ability to organise information.

Encouragement given to workers to work hard and well.

Paid set sum for each hour worked giving the worker motivation to work a set number of hours.

Extra time rate to persuade workers to work extra hours.
What is a salary?
Worker is paid a set amount each year.
What is piece rate?
Worker is paid for each item completed.

Tax paid on income.

Money paid to workers for money spent doing work for the business.

Workers feel they have responsibility making them motivated.
