A

republican, hired andrew johnson to make border states happy during war, 10% plan (10% of each state has to take a loyaly oath to be remitted into the us, but congress stepped in, but lincoln pocket vetoed it.

A

abolished slavery, all of the southern states have to ratify this to rejoin the union, but there wasn’t any economic support of rights given to the freed slaves.

A

he didn’t think that the south ever left so they don’t need to be punished, feels the freedmens bureau is not nessesarry, approves black codes which denies basic civil rights to blacks, fires edwin even when he is not supposed to, found not guilty.

several eastern banks ran out of money, 89 railroads went broke, this hurt farmers, lasted five years of 18000 folded, this led to democrats in the government

samuel (dem) rutherford (rep) are so equal and three southern states can’t make a descicion so they compromise and make rutherford president but they have to have a dem in the cabinet, they need federal money for southern railroads, respect freedmen’s rights and they remove troops from the south
