p. 34.1 (Eucliō) exī! exī ex aedibus, serua.
Come out! Come out of the house, slave woman!
p. 34.2 (Serua) quid est, mī domine? quārē tū mē ex aedibus uocās?
What is it, (my) master? Why do you call me out of the house?
p. 34.3 (Eucliō seruam uerberat) ō mē miseram. ut dominus meus mē uexat. nunc enim mē uerberat. sed tū, mī domine, quārē mē uerberās?
(Euclio beats the slave woman). O miserable me. How my master harasses me. For now he is beating me. But you, my master, why are your beating me?
p. 34.4 (Eucliō) ō mē miserum. tacē, ut mala es! ut mē miserum uexās! manē istīc, Staphyla, manē! stā! moneō tē.
O miserable me! Be quiet, how bad you are! How you harass miserable me! Stay there, Staphyla, stay! Stand (there)! I’m warning you!
p. 34.5 (in aedīs intrat Eucliō) SER. ō mē miseram. ut miser dominus meus est !
(Euclio enters the house): “o miserable me! how wretched my master is!
p. 34.6 (Eucliō ex aedibus in scaenam intrat) EUC. saluum est. tū tamen quārē istīc stās? quārē in aedīs nōn īs? abī! intrā in aedīs! occlūde iānuam!
(Euclio enters onto the stage from the house) It is safe. You, however, why are you standing there? Why don’t you go into the house? Go away! Enter (into) the house! Shut the door!
p. 34.7 (serua in aedīs intrat) nunc abeō ad praetōrem, quod pauper sum. ut inuītus eō! sed sī hīc maneō, uīcīnī meī ‘hem’ inquiunt ‘senex miser multum habet aurum.’
(The slave woman enters the house) now I am going (away) to the praetor, because I am poor. How unwilling(ly) do I go! But if I remain here, my neighbors say “Hey, the wretched old man has a lot of gold.”
