Reactivity and control Flashcards
What is meant by food craving?
a conditioned response to food that is frequently accompanied by increased salivation, physiological arousal and neural activity in reward regions (striatum)
How does regulation affect the likelihood of consumption of food?
regulation decreases reactivity to food and therefore decreases the likelihood of consumption (standard model of regulation predicting behavior)
How does the subjective value placed on food options moderate food choices?
it moderates the relative weights of reactivity and regulation to influence food choice
In terms of reactivity and control, what is dysfunctional eating behavior caused by?
it is caused by an imbalance between increased food reactivity and reduced inhibitory control
