Cognitive Treatment Flashcards
Describe the cognitive remediation therapy (CRT)
it is a brief manualised intervention which consists of various cognitive flexibility and gestalt processing cognitive exercises. it addresses the processes of thought rather than content, thus targeting cognitive processes and not core ED features
What ED is CRT particularly used for? With what exercises?
it is used for anorexia nervosa using set-shifting, multi tasking and central coherence exercises in different sessions
What brain areas seem to be impacted by CRT in AN patients?
the right lateral prefrontal cortex, the left temporal cortex and the right precentral area all showed increased post-treatment activation during response inhibition
