What quote suggests Jesus support violence in self defence and why?
‘sell your cloaks and buy one(a sword).’ -Luke - due to jesus knowing that he will be persecuted (proved by him knowing when to have the last supper), he permitted his disciples to take up arms for protection.
What quote suggests that Jesus is against all vioence and why?
Jesus said ‘No more of this!’ when his disciple cuts off the ear of a servant sent by the High Priest to come and arrest him and eventually put him to death. This suggests that even when attacked, Jesus doesn’t want you to use violence.
Alternatively, he didn’t believe in hurting a servant, who was only following the orders of the high priest and ,therefore, not intentionally out of evil.
