What are the 6 characteristics of God?
Omni-potence - God is all - powerful
Omnibenevolence - God is all - loving
Just - God is far
Omniscience - God is all - knowing
Transcendence - God exists outside the universe
Immanence - God is present in the world
What was the Problem of Evil?
Proposed by David Hume
There is evil in the world
God is all powerful
God is all loving
there should be no evil, but there is
Therefore, there is no God/ the atributes of God are wrong
Solutions to the Problem of Evil?
God gave humans free will so he choses not to interfer with people’s decisions so that they can learn the consequences of their actions. - ‘The heart of man plans his way.’ However, the end of the quote goes, ‘ but the Lord establishes his steps.
Experiencing bad things could be a test of faith. E.g. Story of Abraham(Ibrahim in Islam) being told to sacrifice his son Issac.
Original Sin - When Eve and Adam ate the forbidden fruit, they were banished to Earth and the world became ‘fallen’.
OS - Adam and Eve ate the fruit proving that we are imperfect beings even in a perfect world(Garden of Eden) - Humans ‘fall short of the glory of God.’ -B
OS - Adam and Eve were tempted by the devil, therefore, there is evil due to Satan - ‘The devil prowls around.’

Frequently uses modern music

What is Private Worship?
Can be liturgical or non-liturgical
E.g. saying grace before a meal or reading a bible passage a day
Allows a personal connection with God
