Who wrote the Lord’s Prayer?
Jesus
What is the importance of the Lord’s Prayer?
It tells us God has the power to provide what humans need to survive. It also helps Christians to achieve a deeper understanding of the Bible.
What does the Lord’s Prayer tell us to do?
Ask God for forgiveness( ‘forgive us our sins’) and protect us from evil (‘deliver us from evil’)
What is grace?
Many Christians say grace before a meal as a reminder to be thankful for the gift of food God has given.
What are icons?
Orthodox and Catholics often use icons while praying. They are often of Jesus, Mary or other saints and make prayers significant.
What are rosaries?
A set of beads that catholics use for prayer. Each bead has a set prayer which is said as that bead is held. It reminds catholics of set prayers and brings a routine.
What are personal prayers?
Many christians will pray individually in their own words. This gives them the ability to talk to God in a personal way.
What is intercessory prayer?
Intercessory prayer is focussed on praying for the needs of the world and other people. It is an opportunity for Christians to ask God to intervenue in events and make things better. For many christians, this is their way to show love for others.
What are set prayers?
There are many forms of set prayer, particularly within the Anglican, Catholic and Orthodox churches. These prayers will form a regular part of service and allow everyone to join in with the same words.
