Q
What occurs here?
→ What is the mechanism?
How does it present?
10% have a primary type. What are some of the secondary causes?
How is it managed?
A
➊ Fingers (and less commonly, toes) turn different colour in response to certain triggers such as cold or stress
→ Overly-sensitive vessels spasm during a trigger, decreasing its blood flow, therefore causing a colour change
➋ Well demarcated cold-induced colour change of fingertips from white → blue → red
➌ Scleroderma, SLE etc.
➍ • Avoid triggers
• DHP-CCBs - Cause peripheral vasodilation
‣ ACEi and Prostacyclin are other options
