Maydi’s hernia
Hernia-in-w
Lethal if undiagnosed
Sac contains 2 loops of bowel with another loop of bowel being intra-abdominal
A loop of bowel in the form of a “w” lies in the hernial sac and and the center portion of the “w” loop may become strangulated
Mostly in men and on the right side
Obturator hernia
Hernia of the pelvic floor in which pelvic or abdominal content protrudes through the Obturator foramen
More in women, especially multiparous and older women who have lost a lot of weight
Littre’s hernia
Abdominal wall hernia involving meckel’s diverticulum
Lumbar hernia
Petit hernia- inferior lumbar triangle
Grynfeltt- Lesshaft hernia - superior lumbar triangle
Sciatic hernia
Develops in the pelvis through the sciatic foramen
Amyand’s hernia
Rare type of inguinal hernia which occurs when the appendix is included in the hernial sac and becomes incarcerated
