Forced flexion - extensor tendon rupture at PIP
Tx: splint in extension for 6-8 weeks
Mallet finger
Forced flexion = extensor tendon rupture at DIP
MC 3RD DIGIT
Tx: short splin in 10’ DIP extension for 6 to 8 weeks
Jersey finger
Forced finger extension = FDP rupture
SWEATER SIGN
Madelung deformity

Early decrase and late increase in ulnar deviation
LEADS TO kienbock’s disease and tfc tears
Tx = surgical referral

Forearm flexion contracture caused by suprcondylar fx d/t crush injury, tight cast or compartment syndrome
MC IN CHILDREN
6 P’S: pain, paresthesia, paresis, paralysis, pallor, pulseless
Ape hand
Median neuropathy = de-rotation of thumb and atrophy of thenar eminence
CAUSED BY NEUROTMESIS
IRREVERSIBLE
Claw hand
Finger/thumb flexion caused by injury to median and ulnar nerves, multiple radiuclopathy and/or plexopathy
May be d/t severe or complete disruption of median nerve
SEEN WITH VOLKMANN’S
