characteristic for, but not diagnostic of, Wells syndrome
foci of amorphous and/or granular material associated with connective tissue fibers
2
Q
A
Granuloma faciale.
This low-power histologic section shows a mixed infiltrate of lymphocytes, histiocytes, neutrophils, plasma cells, and eosinophils.
There is sparing of a narrow grenz zone between the inflammatory infiltrate and the overlying epidermis.

Q
A
Grannuloma Annulare

4
Q
- Identify the large cells in figure B
- Diagnosis
- Stain that can highlight lesional histiocytes
A
- Touton giant cells
- Juvenile xanthoganuloma
- Lesional histiocytes are positive for stabilin-1
- Others: Cells stain for macrophage markers such as CD163, CD11b, CD11c, CD36, CD68, factor XIIIa, and vimentin.
- JXG can be distinguished from LCH by the expression of stabilin-1 and the absence of CD1a and CD207
