Random Flashcards
Land Immediately
Execute a landing without delay
Land As Soon As Possible
Land at the first site at which a safe landing can be made
Land As Soon As Practical
Extended flight is not recommended. Landing site and duration of flight is at the discretion of the pilot in command.
Precautionary Emergency Landing
“when further flight is possible but inadvisable”
- An indication is received by the warning lights or instruments that further flight would jeopardize the safety of the helicopter or crew
- When control function is questionable or instruments fail that are essential for continued flight
- Condition of uncertainty or distress
“most PELs require maintenance personnel inspect before further flight”
Emergency Shutdown
- High pressure rotor brake switch - Emer
- All engine speed control levers - Shutoff
- WARNING - emergency brake application can cause fire hazard
- WARNING - exiting cabin prior to rotor head coming to a complete stop may result in injury
- APP - as required
- Fuel select levers - shutoff
Ditching Preparation
- Alert crew members
- Order all doors, hatches, and cargo ramp/door secured
- Lock seat harness
- Follow emergency radio procedures
- WARNING - failure to properly stow ICS can cause entanglement
Ground Resonance or Nose Wheel Shimmy
- If able - takeoff
2. If unable to takeoff - emergency shutdown
Lost Plane Procedures
- Confess
- Climb
- Communicate
- Conserve
- Conform
Inadvertent IMC
- Immediately transition to an instrument scan
- Maneuver to obtain terrain/obstacle altitude clearance
- Squawk emergency and contact ATC to establish positive radar control
Inadvertent IMC on Landing
- Collective - increase to climb
- Cyclic - hover attitude (on instruments)
Consideration should be given to activation depart
- Selected heading - maintain
Lightening Strike
- Airspeed - 80KIAS
2. Land as soon as possible
Personnel Departing Aircraft Unexpectedly
- Notify pilots
- Airspeed reduce (hover if able)
- Attempt recovery of personnel
External Cargo Jettison
- Area - cleared if possible
- Pilot announce pickle pickle pickle
- Pilot, copilot, aircrewmans cargo release button - press
If load does not release
- Pilot announce CAD CAD CAD (single point ops)
- Single point shear switch - activate
Water Landings
If all three engines or enough power:
land with gear retracted. zero forward airspeed. gently lower collective and bring cyclic to neutral position.
“nose up altitudes over 5 degrees may cause tail to strike water”
