Hydraulic System Flashcards
Hydraulic Power Supply System Failure
Indications - a condition that cannot be corrected with manual hydraulic refill system
- First and second stage hydraulic systems fluid quantity low - land as soon as possible
- First and utility 1 hydraulic systems fluid low - land as soon as possible
- All other combinations are land as soon as practical
Utility 1 Hydraulic System Failure
Primary visual indications - (1) UTIL 1 HYD PRESS gauge on panel is redlined (2) UTILITY 1 PRESS caution light <1,500psi (3) UTILITY 1 OIL HOT above 107C or blower inop (4) UTILITY QTY T/R caution light
*WARNING - extended flight with U1 Failure is not recommended due to possible loss of tail rotor control
- Landing gear - extend
- CAUTION - if it fails with ramp at or below ground level ramp contact can occur upon landing
- Land as soon as possible
Flight Control Hydraulic System Failure
Primary visual indications - (1) 1ST and 2ND STAGE HYD PRESS gauges are redlined (2) 1ST STG PRESS MR TR and 2ND PRESS MR caution lights (3) 1 STG QTY MR TR and 2 STG QTY MR caution lights (4) 2 STG OIL HOT caution light
- Check that both collective flight control servo switches are ON
- Air speed - 80KIAS
- Land as soon as possible
- WARNING - failure of both first and second stages will result in loss of control of helo
- WARNING - rapid or abrupt movement of flight control with only one primary flight control system can result in control restrictions due to reduction in operating system
Primary Tandem Servo Malfunction
Primary visual indications - 1 STG MR SERVO BYPAS and 2 STG MR SERVO BYPAS
- Airspeed - reduce
- Land as soon as possible
Tail Rotor Tandem Servo Malfunction
Primary visual indication - 1 STG TR SERVO BYPAS and 2 STG TR SERVO BYPAS
- Airspeed - reduce
- Land as soon as possible
Restriction or Binding of the Flight Controls
- Check for any cockpit instructions to the flight controls
- Reduce airspeed to 80-100KIAS
- Minimize maneuvering
- Avoid abrupt flight control inputs
- Land as soon as possible
