what is cellulitis?
inflammation of connective tissue
what are some radiographic findings to suggest soft tissue swelling?
increased soft tissue thickness
increased soft tissue opacity, also look for gas
loss of normal soft tissue planes
what is a fistulogram?
injection of contrast material into a draining tract to asses extension of a wound, communication with body cavities, or to find foreign bodies
in whom does hematogenous osteomyelitis occur?
usually immature patients
where is lysis usually localized with hematogenous osteomyelitis?
where increased blood supply
can hematogenous osteomyelitis affect the joint space?
yes: septic arthritis
what is an involucrum?
necrotic halo around a sequestrum

disc space collapse and block vertebrae

physitis

no- too fast
what is the nature of hematogenous osteomyelitis?
osteolytic

hematogenous spread: post-op or secondary to osteomyelitis
