radiology Flashcards
diffuse miliary/nodular intersitial ddx
fungal vs neoplasia
what lymphnodes enlarge in a chest rad that is classic for fungal disease
hilar LN enlargement
solitary pulmonary mass ddx
carcinoma, fungal
how can we tell an enlarged cat heart
shouldnt really have sternal contact if normal, look for enlarged vessels
how to ddx LCHF from HCM in cat radiographs
pulmonary edema, look for extremely tall heart with LA enlargement- CHF
air bronchograms are seen in what pattern
alveolar
what does cardiogenic pulmonary edema look like on rads
unstructured interstitial pattern in the caudodorsal lung field
what do we look for in chest rads.
evaluate the heart size, shape, vasculature size, lung patterns, tracheal placement
what is a common visualization of heartworm on radiographs
PA enlargement, unstructured interstitial, caudal lobar arteries enlarged
cats also have bronchial patterns that can be mistaken for asthma
when looking for mass effects in the abdomen what do we need to look for
deviation of normal structures
you see a mass like object in the abdomen. what are the differentials
CHANG. cyst, hematoma, abscess, neoplasia, granuloma
you find a mass on the spleen. what do you do
chest rads and abdominal US to look for metastatic disease
reverse C spleen
splenic torsion, R/o GDV
how to confirm splenic torsion
doppler on US will show no flow. more hypoechoic and enlarged spleen
normal orientation of spleen in a cat abdomen
should never be able to see the tail of the spleen. if you can it is enlarged and should be examened as enlarged spleens are likely pathogenic
main DDX of enlarged spleen in cat
MCT, lymphoma
what to do if you see splenomegaly in a cat
aspirate the spleen and the liver. to look for hidden liver mets
