Radio Waves (T3) Flashcards
1
Q
Do radio waves carry a lot of energy?
A
No. Radio waves have small amounts of energy, so while they can carry on for a massive distance, they give almost no energy to something when they hit
2
Q
List three uses of radio waves…
A
- broadcasting
- communications
- satellite transmissions
3
Q
Which waves in the EM spectrum have the longest wavelengths?
A
Radio waves
4
Q
How do radio waves work?
A
- radio waves are emitted by a transmitter
- as they cross an arial they are detected and the information they carry can be received
- TV and FM radio use radio waves with shorter wavelengths to carry their signals
5
Q
What type of wave is used for radar and how was the name radar put together?
A
