Q

BREVITY CODEWORDS

FLIGHT LEVEL

A

Flight Level (FL) is a way to express altitude related to a reference datum of 29.92 inches of mercury. For our purposes, FL will be used when the aircraft is at 18,000 feet or above and have a standard altimeter setting of 29.92. Flight levels are voiced as three single digits that represent hundreds of feet.

Q

BULLSEYE

A

A Bullseye is an established reference point from which the position of an object can be referenced by bearing (MAGNETIC) and range (NM).

A controller will always use the exact numbers when interpreting this data on their scope, never round off numbers.

“Bullseye same” if what the pilot reported and what the controller sees on their scope is within three degrees and/or three nautical miles
