Useful in treating laryngeal edema; inhibits histamine release.

Croup, laryngotracheobronchitis, laryngeal edema

Hypertension, underlying cardiovascular disease, and epiglotitis

Tachycardia, arrhythmias
Epinephrine Racemic (Micronefrin, Vaponefrin) Drug Interactions
MAOIs and bretylum may potentiate the effects, beta blockers may block the effects
Epinephrine Racemic (Micronefrin, Vaponefrin) Adult Dosage
Solution – 0.25-0.75 ml of 2.2% solution in 2.0 ml NS

Pediatric Dosage
Under 20kg
Solution: < 20 kg dilute 0.25 mL in 2.5 mL of NS.

Pediatric Dosage
20kg to 40 kg
Dilute 0.5 mL in 2.5 mL of NS.
Epinephrine Racemic (Micronefrin, Vaponefrin)
Pediatric Dosage
> 40 kg
Dilute .75 mL in 2.5 mL of NS. Administer via aerosolization.

May cause tachycardia and arrhythmias; monitor vital signs; excessive amounts may cause bronchoconstriction.
