Mechanism of Action
Indications
Bronchospasm from either: Croup with stridor at rest; OR Bronchiolitis patients who do not respond to suctioning or for impending respiratory failure
Contraindications
Epiglottitis
Side effects / Precautions
Tachycardia, arrythmias, restlessness, headache, nausea, sweating, tremors, angina
Adult Dose
11.25mg/0.5 mL (2.25%) mixed with 3mL NaCl
Pediatric Dose
0.5 ml of 2.25% (11.25mg) mixed with 3 mL 0.9% NaCl
If <4 years old: 0.05 mL/kg of 2.25% solution
(1.125% dextro-epinephrine and 1.125% levo-epinephrine)
Max adult dose (max pedi dose)
11.25mg/0.5mL (11.25mg/0.5mL)
Onset of Action
1-5 minutes

1-3 hours
