Mechanism of Action
Indications
Moderate to severe pain
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, SBP <100mmHg, patient with non-opioid directive
Side effects / Precautions
itchy skin, nausea, vomiting, headache, constipation, somnolence
Adult Dose
Pain relief: 0.1 mg/kg IV/IO/IM (single max dose of 10 mg); May
repeat every 5 minutes to a total of 20 mg titrated to pain relief
Acute Coronary Syndrome: 0.1 mg/kg IV/IO/IM (up to 5 mg); May repeat every 5 minutes to a maximum of 15 mg titrated to pain relief
Intubation: 2-5 mg, slow IV/IO push (be cautious of hypotension), repeat every 5 - 10 minutes as needed
Post-Airway: 0.1 mg/kg (max 5 mg), slow IV/IO push (be cautious of hypotension), repeat every 5- 10 minutes as needed
Pediatric Dose
Pain relief: Morphine 0.1 mg/kg IV/IO (maximum dose 5 mg) may repeat 0.05 mg/kg (maximum dose 2.5 mg) every 5 minutes to a total of 3 doses
Max adult dose (Max pedi dose)
20 mg total (10 mg total)
Onset of action
IV: <5 minutes, IM: 5-20 minutes
Duration of Effects
IV: 2-4 hours, IM: 4-6 hours

IV/IO, IM
